A Personal Note:
2005 was an interesting year for me.  It began on a high as I moved into my first home.  I am now a homeowner and I love it!  At work we were working hard to finish building a million dollar building that we have been working on for 4 years.  We finished and opened it in mid May.  Then a weird thing happened as I was attacked by Poi dog Pondering's Manager about this website.  She called me some names and demanded that I remove much of the content here.  I took that pretty hard since I have always had a good releationship with her and the band.  I have to say the outpouring of support I received after that was heart-warming.  I did take a break from the band for about 4 months (which seemed like an eternity for me!)  But now I am back and am having a wonderful time enjoying the music!  The band is hotter now than they have ever been!
Well, things seemed to be going well until Labor Day.  It began with trouble sleeping, and was followed by other symptoms which at the time seemed to all be connected (I had trouble sleeping because I had to go to the bathroom alot, every hour, I had to go to the bathroom alot because I was always thirsty.  I was having trouble keeping awake at work, I thought it was because I wasn't slleping well, but I soon found out otherwise.  After a month of this I began to mention the different symptoms to my friend Christine.  She mentioned it sounded like Diabetes.  I immediately looked it up on the internet and sure enough I had 85% of the symptoms.  My eyesight began getting blurry at the time as well.  I was begining to get a little scared.  I had not been to a doctor since 1990 and was proud of that!  It took alot to suck up my pride and make an appointment.
The doctor took some blood and confirmed my fears.  I have type 2 diabetes.  My blood sugar level was 385 (it is supposed to be between 70 and 90)  On top of that my blood pressure is wayyy too high and my cholesteral is in the 390's.  I am on drugs now for the blood sugar and blood pressure.  I have been under a strict diet plan since the begining of October (I've lost 30 lbs so far).  And have been taking Diabetes education classes at the local hospital.  So far things seem to be going ok, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I am a little afraid.  I'm learning how to live my life as a diabetic, and hopefully it will be a long one!
Thank You all for your support!
and may 2006 be a much better year!
